Swingin' Into Spring will be memorable for all of us who love to dance west coast swing. All the difficulties in the hotel just melted away when we walked into the ballroom. You can't beat Mario Robau, Angel Figueroa and Maryann Nunez for lessons. We couldn't have danced anymore and we all left in a state of euphoric exhaustion!
The difficulties with the hotel (Sheraton Bradley) failed to spoil the weekend because of the ease of the event. Ken Mercik really knew how to plan an event. The hotel was filled with people mostly from New England - the majority being from Boston and the Connecticut area. Lots of social dancing during the day and night.
We had some awesome DJs too. Joe Mahoney was in the house and he did not fail to inspire with each song that he played. Ken Mercik was a heck of a DJ too. Everyone danced with everyone. It was just a nice group of people having a really good time.
Those who didn't make finals in the Jack n' Jills were a little dissappointed but some of the judges made themselves available for feedback. Angel Figueroa, head judge, is always kind to the contestants. Whether they made it or not, everyone deserved to be proud of themselves. Its tough and it takes courage.
This is an annual event and I highly recommend it. What a way to bring in spring!
