Anthony DeRosa's Red Bean Boogie!

Anthony and Rebecca DeRosa’s monthly dance at Red Bean Studios in NYC is turning out to be a SPECTACULAR Success!

Saturday night's FUN party had a great turnout!!!

Plenty of leaders, amazing music and everyone was in a BRILLIANT mood!!!

The DeRosa Dance Party is THRIVING!
 






Anthony has a cool - laid back kinda style which creates a relaxing atmosphere.

People just hang out, groove and enjoy!!!

Like the Strictly Westie dances, Anthony and Rebecca welcome their guests, dance with as many as possible and are part of the scene.
 






People are able to approach them and say what they think. Anthony is open to requests and played a good mix of styles.

There has been some debate lately that the music is racing off the cliff of pop and destroying the original intent.

Different music styles means varied self-expression.

This art form is evolving - to stay the same means to stagnate.

WE CAN'T LET THAT HAPPEN!!!


People respond to catchy tunes with memorable phrases. They want to “Raise their Hands in the Air” (Nelly, Just a Dream); they want to "Get Down" (Jay Sean)!


Just give people what they want!

Anthony did just that - he played whatever people wanted.

There was quite a variety of ages and levels at the dance – even a few from back in the legendary days of John Festa's "North River Bar."

Yet, they are young at heart and were happily trying to "Catch a Grenade" (Bruno Mars)!!!


And that's why people keep coming back every month!

Anthony DeRosa coined the phrase “Its not just a dance, it’s a lifestyle.” That's a good way of putting it.

Everyone who came to boogie Saturday night was already dancing before they came in the door!

This is what we DO at parties.

We don't sit around - glued to a game - and/or stuffing our faces and drinking (alot).

Because we gotta dance!

Anthony and Rebecca; Michael Diener and Jen Czarkowski set a wonderful example for the whole dance world!

They host their venues and know all the people who come into their “homes.”  They are approachable and inclusive.
 


And they play a variety of musical styles and are open to change.

Everyone enjoyed themselves Saturday night!


The west coast swing community is definately growing. 

Local dancers like the direction west coast swing is going in and show it with their support!

Look for this dance on the 2nd Saturday evening of every month.  Red Bean Studios is located at 320 W. 37th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues.
